I am finding more and more people
playing "hybrid" style picking. I have done this myself for
over 40 years. Instead of using a thumb pick, I hold a flat
pick between my thumb and first finger (index finger) and
then use either 2 or 3 fingers as you might use thumb and
fingers 1,2,3 . It gives you the best of both worlds. If
you need to fully finger pick you can palm the pick using
your pinky finger.
